Plovember 25: Figment

She stood at the end of the pier and stared at the sky as the sun set. A bloom of pink, orange, and rose — the colors of the clouds — bent and fluttered in reflections on the surface of teh water below. ‘Nice, isn’t it?’She turned slowly so as not to look as nervous as she felt. She had been so distracted by the beauty before her that she had not heard anyone approach. ‘Yes, it is quite lovely.”What if I told you that everything here is not real?’With a frown she answered, ‘What are you talking about? What’s not real? The sunset?”All of it.’ He said with a slight smile. ‘Everything here, the pier, the sunset, the breeze that made those goosebumps on your skin, and even me. None of it’s real.’She blinked. A wave broke and she felt the spray on her face. Yet, she could not remember how she’d gotten to the beach in the first place. As she thought a bit more, she had no memory of who she was or where she had come from. She looked at the man and his smile expanded. ‘I am confused,’ she said quietly. He took her by the hand. ‘Of course you are. But when the person who thought you up goes to sleep, things get a bit foggy.”What do you mean?’They walked away from the sea. ‘My dear, didn’t you know? We are all just a figment of someone’s imagination.’Image result for figment of imagination meme
