Day 15

Job 11:7

One of the hardest pills to swallow is the idea that the Creator is watching and is intimately involved with everything that happens to me.

To understand and accept that fact is to also accept the fact that when I was going through the most horrible, frightening, demeaning, and difficult things in my life, the Creator knew, watched, and was involved.

More jaw-dropping for me as a mom is that when my son was going through the most horrible, frightening, demeaning, and difficult things in his life, the Creator knew, watched, and was involved.

How could such experiences bring glory to the Creator?

Easy.

Yeah, I said that — easy.

It\’s easy because the point of bringing glory to the Creator is not about bringing glory to me. If Jesus could go through what He went through as a body-double for me (and to be clear, there is no question: I tremble at the thought of the first of Jesus\’ experiences … imprisonment. Forget being beaten, a crown of thorns, or carrying and being nailed to a cross: I wouldn\’t have survived being put in the clink) and came out on the other side as the Savior, I certainly can endure some earthly horrors.

By doing so, I have a testimony.

I can share what happened to me and how I got through it with someone else who may be in similar straits. I can let them know it is survivable. I can let them know that they aren\’t alone. I can bring hope.

Hope is the light that leads to glory, not for me, but for the One who made me.
